HOW MUCH WILL A CUSTOM GUITAR COST?
What I can offer
Prices start around £799 for a bespoke guitar, built from the raw timber. There are a number of tonewoods you can use for the body - i have used mahogany, alder, ash, tulipwood, cedrella to name a few but i can source timber for you, and also more decorative woods for caps/carving, such as ziricote or flame maple.
I would normally use maple or mahogany for neck wood - you can have bolt on or set neck, and i usually use ebony, rosewood for fingerboards, or Ebano or Sundari as substitutes for these woods and both i have found to be excellent. Alternatively i can use other woods and source these for you.
For hardware, there are many choices, but i would generally use Wilkinson or Gotoh tuners and bridges, and Wilkinson or Iron Gear pick ups as great value, but if you wanted to use more expensive hardware, that's fine but would obviously increase the final price.
The final price would also take into account complexity of shape, finish, type of wood etc - contact me to see what's possible!
Payment?
If you decide to go ahead i would need a deposit to cover purchase of raw materials, which would be refundable if you are not happy with the final guitar, but i don't want to hand over a guitar to you are not happy with and wouldn't want to play! That's not in anyones best interests!
If you are happy with the final instrument, then i would need the remaining balance paid before (reluctantly) handing over the finished instrument to you.
